Setup to Bending in 10 Seconds

Mate’s latest case study features another great example about increasing throughput and reducing labor costs. Mate Regional Sales Manager Peter Visser visited a customer that did multiple press brake setups per day. These setups took about 10 minutes each, and the customer, Bilan Metal Works, was looking for a better solution.

After investigating what tooling style Bilan used, Visser recommended Mate’s American Precision Style press brake tooling with Maglock. Our patent-pending system uses rare earth magnets that allow the operator to attach the punch in the forward or rearward position.1 The system sets up almost instantly with no separation between the surfaces. Since there is no separation, there’s no need to seat the tooling before use, which is a significant time-saver. Bilan says that what once took ten minutes per set up now takes 10 seconds.2
